Construction Of M’lang Airport To Start Soon

M'LANG, North Cotabato (Carlos Bautista / 12 Jan) The construction of the M'lang airport facilities will start soon following the release of P38 million by the Department of Budget and Management for what is considered as the most important infrastructure project in North Cotabato province.
Engr. Artem Anda, of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), told North Cotabato Gov. Emmanuel Piñol during his Thursday radio program called "Pareng Gob" that the money has been released December 27.
Anda was here to finalize the technical preparations for the airport construction located in the village of Tawan-tawan. He said the project will include the construction of the airport runway, taxiway, apron and access road.
The bidding for the project is scheduled next month at the central DOTC office in Manila. The construction work has been set for April.
Anda said another P10-million from this year's DOTC budget has been allocated for the construction of the airport terminal.
The North Cotabato airport is expected to provide traders and farmers a better way of shipping out perishable produce and ensuring the cargo arrive fresh in markets in the Visayas and Luzon.
"Domestic passenger airliners are expected to open routes in North Cotabato once the airport project is completed," the governor tokd the Zamboanga Journal.
It will improve the accessibility of the province to potential investors, and provide additional job opportunities for the local labor force.
