ZAMBOANGA CITY (Zamboanga Journal / 20 Jan) Police arrested Friday the alleged chief suspect in the killing of a wealthy Filipino-Chinese businessman Alexander Louie Chan in Pagadian City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, officials said.
Provincial police chief Karib Muammil said they arrested Gerry Laride, a notorious gun-for-hire, in a raid in the village of Napulan early Friday.

"Laride is the main suspect in the killing of Mr. Chan and is a known gun-for-hire," Muammil said.
Police did not say how Laride was tracked down or whether any weapons were seized from him.
Chan's family did not release any statement about Laride's capture, and police did not say if the man confessed to the murder or who ordered him to kill the scion of one of the wealthiest family in the province.
Chan, 28, whose family owned a chain of restaurants and pharmacies in the province, was gunned down inside the Alliance Church in downtown Pagadian City.
