Explosion Rocks Presidential Palace!

F L A S H!
A powerful explosion hit Malakanyang in Manila on Monday.
The blast was heard around Malakanyang and security forces quickly cordoned the whole area.
Reporters covering Malakanyang said the blast was so powerful that they heard it inside the Kalayaan building in the Presidential Palace.
Radio network dzRH in Manila said President Gloria Arroyo was in
Malakanyang at the time of the explosion.
It said the explosive was planted inside a big trash bin at the Palace compound. The bin was shredded by the blast and debris littered the compound.
Malakanyang officials downplayed the explosion, which coincided with reports of a possible coup to oust Arroyo, accused by the opposition and jailed coup leaders of corruption and cheating in the May 2004 national elections.
The military rightist group called the Young Officers' Union New Generation-Reformist of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, which earlier demanded Arroyo's resignation, has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
