DAVAO CITY (Zamboanga Journal / 21 Jun) The Regional Customs-Immigration-Quarantine-Security (CIQS) line agencies in the Southern Philippines have agreed in a recent meeting here to jointly support the establishment of a joint security patrol system and coastal surveillance and monitoring across borders of Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines (BIMP).
Philippine CIQS agencies agreed to strengthen partnership as well as pool their resources to undertake joint security patrol across borders in support of the strong sub-regional campaign against terrorism.
The joint patrol was one of the agenda discussed during the 2nd BIMP Summit held last year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Transport ministers of the four countries agreed to undertake policy improvements on trade facilitation through strengthening of the BIMP CIQS.
