An unidentified Muslim woman who is a peace and development advocate in Kolambugan town in Lanao del Norte province displays freshly baked delicacies, which the Maranao Peace and Development Advocates Association is producing.
Many peace and development advocates are members of the former rebel group Moro National Liberation Front and now actively involved in volunteer work -- from peace education and advocacy to relief and rehabilitation of conflict-affected areas in Mindanao island.
The Philippine government and the United Nations’ ACT for Peace Programme, through the Mindanao Economic Development Council, are working with these advocates to peace and development in the region. (Photo by Leah Bugtay)
