Bus Falls Into Ravine, 40 Hurt In Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Zamboanga Journal / 09 Jul) At least 40 passengers were injured when an overloaded mini bus lost its breaks and plowed into a ravine on a remote village in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, police said.

Police said the bus was on its way to downtown Zamboanga City from the farming village of Sibulao when the accident occured Saturday near Curuan district, about 40 km east of here.
Its driver, Joel Rojas, claimed he lost control of the bus after its breaks mulfunctioned. "The bus rolled over and fell into the ravine," he told police investigators.

Police said there were no casualties.
