MANILA (Juan Magtanggol / 23 Jul) Korean actor and heartthrob Lee Dong-wook surprised his Filipino fans Sunday after he arrived unannounced at one of the country's biggest mall in Manila.
Clad in white t-shirt and a pair of denim pants, Lee Dong-wook, who portrays the character Julian in the localized version of the television romance-comedy series My Girl, arrived at the Mall of Asia surrounded by bodyguards.
He arrived in a convoy of four vans and cars and two motorcycle policemen. Fans, who recognized the young actor, screamed and took photographs of him from their cell phones. Others charged the actor and asked for autographs.
But his staff prevented the actor's fans from taking more photos. "No photographs please," one unidentified Korean woman was telling the fans. Filipino security guards at the mall were also called to protect the actor from his screaming fans.
Lee Dong-wook plays Seol Gong Chan in My Girl, the second generation heir of a big corporation. Because of his grandfather's illness, he was forced to ask Lee Da Hae, who plays Ju Yoo-rin, an impostor proficient in English, Chinese and Japanese, to be his long-lost cousin so that the old man's wish can be fulfilled.
So therefore, they both are bound in a lie that no-one in the family knows the truth. Others in the series are Park Si Seon, who portrays Kim Sae-hyun, and Lee Joon Ki, who plays Seo Jeong-woo.
He also starred in television series Hanoi Bride, Precious Family, Island Village Teacher, among others. The Korean actor was in Manila on a tour.
