MANILA -- U.S. District Judge Ronald Lew, Central District of California, recently spoke to colleagues in the Philippine judiciary during a “Judge-to-Judge Dialogue” series hosted by the American Bar Association – Asia Law Initiative (ABA-Asia) and the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
The ABA-Asia, with funding support from the U.S. Agency for International Development, works with the Supreme Court, Philippine Judicial Academy, lawyers' organizations and law schools to support legal reform in the Philippines, particularly in the areas of strengthening judicial capacity and integrity, promoting legal education and bar reform, and supporting anti-corruption reform.
The “Judge-to-Judge Dialogue” series allows Filipino judges to benefit from the experiences and perspectives of judges and legal scholars from abroad. Judge Lew spoke in late June on the subject of “Corporate Principles in Judicial Administration” and how this is applied in the United States. Also speaking during the “Judge-to-Judge Dialogue” were guests from Australia and the Philippines.
