Photo: US-RP Military Launch VETCAP In Zamboanga

A man assists a U.S. military veterinarian in the village of Lamisahan in Zamboanga City during a recent Veterinary Community Action Program (VETCAP). American and Filipino veterinarians treated 75 cattle, 11 carabao, 52 goats, 295 pigs, 1554 chickens and 32 dogs for area residents who rely on livestock and animals for their livelihood.

Aside from vaccinations, the veterinarians also provided medical checkups and minor surgery for injured and sick animals. The U.S. Military’s Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines (JSOTF-P) is deployed to the southern region of the Philippines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where they work with partners in the Armed Forces of the Philippines on myriad community programs to assist area residents.
