Japan To Train Young Filipino Farmers

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Carl Bautista / 21 Sept) Japan will again host future farmer leaders from all over the country in a one-year training program on modern farm techniques and technologies under the Young Filipino Farmers Training Program in Japan.

The program, part of the commitment of the Japanese government to young farmers in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and China, will provide hands-on experience on modern farming to beneficiaries.

Grantees will have the opportunity to exchange agricultural information and farm techniques with their Japanese hosts, and acquire various technical skills in agriculture.

They are also expected to learn more about mechanized farming and cooperative management.

The program, sponsored by the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC) in partnership with the local government units, JAEC Alumni Association of the Philippines and the National Agricultural and Fishery Council, is open to deserving 20-26 years old out of school youth-farmers who must undergo and pass the provincial and regional level screening process. Each region is given a maximum of three slots.

The provincial qualifying exam for North Cotabato will be on October 5 at eight in the morning at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) in Amas, Kidapawan City.

Application forms are also available at the said office. For more information, please contact Judy Gomez thru telephone numbers (064) 278-7019.
