Manila (Bert Laride / 14 Dec) - President Gloria Arroyo has released more than P160 million in aid to assist families and beneficiaries of soldiers and policemen who were either killed or wounded in line of duty, the official Philippine Information Agency said Thursday.
The money, it said, was from Arroyo's President’s Social Fund (PSF) released since July 2001.
"Families of soldiers and policemen who are either wounded or killed in action in various military operations nationwide may now be assured of a stable future."
"President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been providing financial assistance in recognition of the gallantry and bravery of these men-in-uniform in ensuring the country’s peace and order and security," it said.
The aid provided financial assistance to some 3,435 beneficiaries, including families of Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) members who died or injured in battle.
Other government agencies and the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police were also providing similar assistance to beneficiaries of soldiers and policemen. (Mindanao Examiner)
