GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 10 Jan) - The death toll in Wednesday bombing of a lottery shop in the southern Philippines has risen to six and that more than two dozen people were confirmed injured in the attack by blamed by authorities on terror groups in the troubled Mindanao region.
Police and military suspect the blast in General Santos City was the handiwork of the al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf group, the Jemaah Islamiya and the rouge members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the country's largest Muslim rebel group fighting for independence in the south.
Authorities earlier reported that 5 people had died from the bombing that occurRed at around 6.05 p.m. in downtown area. Other reports said a second explosion was heard near a police post in Kidapawan City near General Santos City. There were no immediate reports of casualties. (Mindanao Examiner)
