NPA Rebels Execute Tribal Chief's Son In Southern Philippines

DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 07 Mar) – Suspected communist insurgents abducted and executed a 17-year old son of a tribal chieftain in the southern Philippines, police said Wednesday.

Police said Christopher Lapindoy was seized from his house by eight alleged New People’s Army rebels in the village of Callawa in Buhangin district in Davao City late Tuesday.

He was later killed by musketry, police said, adding, the victim’s father, Datu Camid Lapindoy, was not at home at the time of the attack.

No group or individual claimed responsibility for the killing, but police, quoting fresh intelligence reports, implicated the rebels belonging to NPA’s Front Committee 52.

The motive of the killing was unknown, but police said the victim’s father was a staunch anti-communist crusader in Davao City. (Romy Bwaga)
