Radio Reporter Murdered In Philippines

QUEZON CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 18 Apr) – A Filipino radio reporter was found murdered, his body bore signs of torture and gunshot wounds, in the northern province of Nueva Ecija, police said.

Police said Mark Palacios body was discovered in the village of Mapalad in the town of Santa Rosa at around 7.30 a.m.

The 41-year old Palacios was working for the government-radio station called Radyo ng Bayan in the province. The motive of the murder is unknown, but media groups have condemned the killing.

Dozens of journalists have been killed in the Philippines since democracy was restored in 1986. The Philippines ranked second after Iraq as the most dangerous place in the world for journalists. (Mindanao Examiner)
