FLASH: Kidnapped Italian Catholic Priest Is Freed In Southern Philippines

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 19 Jul) – A kidnapped Italian Catholic clergy in the southern Philippines has been freed after more than six weeks in captivity, reports said Friday.

No details were available about the release of Fr Giancarlo Bossi, who was kidnapped by rogue Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels after celebrating mass June 10 in the remote town of Payao in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Security officials were not immediately available to confirm or give details about the release of the 57-year of priest from Milan.

Bossi is a member of the Papal Institute for Foreign Missions.
