MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / 03 Jul) – After denying involvement in the abduction of a Filipino political activist Jonas Burgos, now the chief of the Philippine Army is implicating communist insurgents in the disappearance of the young son of a press freedom fighter.
Lt. Gen. Romeo Tolentino said they suspect the New People’s Army rebels as behind the abduction of Burgos. He was seized by five men and woman while eating at a restaurant in Ever Gotesco Mall in Quezon City on April 28, 2007.
Edith Burgos, the man’s mother, accused the army as behind the abduction.
“If she is convinced, then she should file a criminal case, but we are making an investigation into this allegation,” Tolentino said. (Juley Reyes)
