IDB Engineer Missing In Southern Philippines

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 05, 2007) – A Filipino Muslim engineer working for the Islamic Development Bank was reported missing in the southern province of Sulu, police and military said on Monday.

Morced Tagitis arrived in the province from Zamboanga City on October 30 for a scholarship project, but he did not return since then after leaving his budget hotel in Kakuyagan village in Jolo town.

“We still don’t know where he is. The man has not returned to his hotel. We are closely coordinating with the police to find out what happened to the man,” Army Colonel Antonio Supnet, commander of the 104th Infantry Brigade, told the Mindanao Examiner.

Brigadier General Ruperto Pabustan, chief of army special forces in Sulu, said Tagitis is working as a coordinator for the IDB’s scholarship program for Muslims in the province. “We don’t know what happened. He could have gone home,” he said in a separate interview. (Mindanao Examiner)
