Six Houses Destroyed By Twister In Southern Philippines

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / June 9, 2008) – At least six houses were destroyed when a twister plowed through a neighborhood in the southern Philippines.

The tornado left a trail of destruction, but there were no reports of serious injuries in the farming village of Upper Panuntungan in Tibungco district in Davao City.

Police said the twister hit land at dawn Saturday.

Tornado is a rotating column of air ranging in width from a few yards to more than a mile and whirling at destructively high speeds, usually accompanied by a funnel-shaped downward extension of a cumulonimbus cloud. (Romy Bwaga)
