DAVAO CITY, Philippine (Mindanao Examiner / September 11, 2008) – A young man implicated in the series of robberies in Davao City in the southern Philippines was killed after two armed shot him at close range, police said Thursday.
Dennis Capuyan, 25, was smoking a cigarette inside the Mintal market on Wednesday night when two men approached him and without warning fired several shots. Capuyan was killed instantly, police said.
Police said the gunmen escaped after the attack. Capuyan’s mother said her son was involved in several robberies and even victimized her in the past. She said she warned her son to reform, but he did not listen.
No group has come forward to admit the killing, police said. It was unknown if the assailants were members of the dreaded vigilante group called Davao Death Squad or from other gangs. (Romy Bwaga)
