ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / September 21, 2008) – A market vendor was arrested and jailed after he was caught throwing trash at a canal in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines.
Reynold Sambang, 32, was charged with violating the city’s sanitary code, but was freed after paid P500 penalty and ordered to serve unspecified hours of community service.
Local authorities warned residents not to to thrown their garbage in canals and rivers. (Erico Rosco)
