DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / September 16, 2008) – A deranged man attacked his sexagenarian parents, killing his mother and seriously wounding his own father, inside their house in the southern Philippines, police said on Tuesday.
Police said Zoilo Taray Jr, 33, attacked the duo with a piece of wood, clubbing them in head before being arrested in Panabo City in Davao del Norte province. The weekend attack, police said, killed Rosalia Taray and injured her husband.
Family members said the young Zoilo suddenly attacked the couple without any provocation and blamed the man’s mental state for his aggressive behavior.
Police said the man was suffering from a mental illness and has previously attacked other people. The lack of money prevented the man’s family to rehabilitate him. (Romy Bwaga)
