Three Fishers Rescued Off Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / September 12, 2008) – Three fishermen were rescued after boat, battered by huge waves, capsized off Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, officials said on Friday.

Officials said the three men, Alfredo Gaddung, Roger Hamid, and Asadi Lilang, were rescued by other fishermen on Thursday night. The trio said their boat’s outrigger was destroyed by big waves and eventually capsized.

They said they held on to the boat until fishermen spotted and saved them. Monsoon rains the past days brought flash floods and triggered landslides in Zamboanga City. (Erico Rosco)
