Military Media Profiling Slammed By Mindanao Journalists

NATIONAL UNION OF JOURNALISTS IN THE PHILIPPINES.
Zamboanga City-Sulu-Basilan-TawiTawi Chapters

Statement

NUJP ZamBaSulTa chapter questions the re imposition of submitting bio data for Western Mindanao Command's (WestMinCom) media profiles.
WestMinCom spokesman Maj. Eugene S. Batara said the policy is to update their files; to know more media personalities covering the defense and for other use like if there are new officials, they would know immediately just by merely browsing the files.

Bio data form requires media to supply personal details.
NUJP ZamBaSulTa sees it as further intrusion on privacy even if reporters' background is already public knowledge.

NUJP local chapter sees the policy as a subtle from of harassment as bio-data is a basis to issue defense press card, wherein press identification card is already enough.
