ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - The Department of Science and Technology, through its Philippine Science High School System, released the list of principal qualifiers of the 2009 PSHS System National Competitive Examination held on November 15, 2008.
Thelma Diego, designated information officer of DOST 9 based here, said a total of 24 graduating elementary students from the Zamboanga Peninsula region qualified for the PSHS Scholarship.
The qualifiers will either go to Philippine Science High School Main Campus in Diliman, Quezon City, or at its Central Mindanao Campus in Lala, Lanao del Norte, according to Diego.
Of the qualifiers, seven come from Zamboanga City, four from Pagadian City, eight from Dipolog City, three from Zamboanga del Sur (ZDS), one from Zamboanga Sibugay Province (ZSP), and one from Isabela City, Basilan, she said.
The successful qualifiers are: (1) Albarico, Dyzza Lei Limbaga (ZDS), (2) Aleman, Ron Andrew Potestas (ZDS); (3) Alonso, Deo Al Patrick Tapayan (Dipolog), (4) Cabrestante, Nikko Herrero (Pagadian), (5) Cabual, Paul Cariaga (Pagadian), (6) Cadalin, Kent Elmann Reyes (ZSP), (7) Carvajal, Jainese Van Napal (Isabela), (8) Cuyugan, Angelie Lim (Zamboanga), (9) Daaron, Jezreel Grace Tianco (Dipolog), (10) Edquila, Karl Michael Valleja (Dipolog).
And (11) Flores, Karl Andri Tampus (ZDS), (12) Gonzales, Angelo Salvador (Zamboanga), (13) Lorenzo, Nicolas Kintanar (Zamboanga), (14) Lucasan, RJ Arne Raf Dagayluan (Dipolog), (15) Rivera, Youssef Rafaello Natividad (Zamboanga), (16) Romero, Butch Derrick Penales (Dipolog), (17) Ruda, Archie Gomera (Dipolog), (18) Saldua, Xiarah NiƱa Banggos (Pagadian), (19) Sareno, Mika Angela Cuenca (Dipolog), (20) Sy, Wie Lang Evardo (Dipolog), (21) Tan, Justin Ryan Ong (Zamboanga), (22) Tarro, Christell Joy Paragas (Zamboanga), (23) Virata, Myrtle Anne Faye Napao (Pagadian), and (24) Wee, Christian Vince Basilio (Zamboanga).
The Philippine Science High School was created for the purpose of giving education highly enriched in science and mathematics to exceptionally gifted Filipino children.
Established in 1963, the school has grown into eight campuses in different locations in the Philippines.
