Mindanao poll officer's shooters identified

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 23, 2009) – Police on Thursday have identified two alleged suspects in the shooting of a poll official in the southern Philippines and are being hunted in the failed murder.

Police said the duo Adta Limba, alias Tah Pusher, and Kanakan Karim, also known as Kritikal, who were both implicated in the shooting of lawyer Rendon Gutierrez, 43, in Cotabato City on April 21, near his karaoke bar.

Gutierrez, poll officer of Libungan town in North Cotabato, was shot in the head, but survived the attack and is recuperating at an undisclosed hospital, police said.

Police said witnesses pointed to the two men as the shooters and they were among 15 prisoners who escaped April 16 from a jail in Cotabato City. (Geo Solmerano)
