Dipolog Mayor Gets Coveted Military Award

DIPOLOG CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 6, 2010) - The Philippine military has named the local mayor as a model public official for supporting its various humanitarians programs.

The Western Mindanao Command conferred the prestigious "Model Public Official" to Mayor Evelyn Uy in a ceremony held recently in Zamboanga City.

Uy was the only elective official from Zamboanga del Norte province to have received such a recognition which was awarded during the 4th anniversary of Western Mindanao Command, state media said.

It said Uy earned the accolade for her outstanding performance in governance as a local chief executive and for her unwavering support to the Philippine Army's 101st Infantry Brigade.

The 101st Infantry Brigade is based in the town of Pinan in Zamboanga del Norte provinces and covers the entire province of Misamis Occidental, portion of Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte. (With a report from Becky de Asis)
