Pa kills family in Davao province


DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 12, 2011) – Filipino policemen detained a man who killed his wife and their son and three other children in the southern province of Davao del Norte, reports said on Saturday.

Reports quoting the police said the murders occurred on Friday in the family house in Kapalong town after a dispute between the couple.

Among those killed was the woman’s 12-year old daughter from a previous marriage and their two nieces ages 2 and 5. The couple’s two-year old was also hacked to death. The man was arrested after the killings.

It was unknown what triggered the 33-year old father to murder his own family, but police said the man was drunk and had quarreled with his wife before the brutal murders.

Police said all the victims had been hacked and died instantly from the repeated blows.

It was not immediately known whether the man was high on drugs when he committed the crime or whether he had any history of mental illness. (Mindanao Examiner)
