Army finds weapons in Lanao province


LANAO DEL NORTE, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / May 12, 2011) – Government troops have recovered a cache of weapon buried in a shallow grave in the southern Philippine province of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, officials said Thursday.

Officials said civilian information led the soldiers to the grave in the village of Payong in Sultan Naga Dimaporo. Second Lieutenant Ronald Ardales, who led the soldiers, said they recovered seven rocket-propelled grenades, a rocket launcher, rifle ammunition and plastic pipe.

Ardales did not say who owned the weapons. (Merlyn Manos)
