Boracay resorts hit record high tourist arrival




ILOILO CITY, Philippines - Tourist arrival in the island resort of Boracay in Aklan province has registered a record-breaking feat in 2011, following a 15 percent increase in the number of tourists visiting the resort island up to April this year, according to the official Philippine News Agency.

It quoted Caticlan Jetty Port administrator Niven Maquirang as saying that tourist influx this year is higher compared to the same period in 2010.

He said for the month of April alone, tourist arrivals in Boracay reached a whopping 116,847 which is higher compared to 101,349 tourists recorded for the same period last year.

Maquirang said that from January to April this year, tourist arrival in Boracay was recorded at 327,000 and majority of foreign tourists were Chinese and Korean nationals.

He expressed optimism that this month would be higher than April.
