MANILA, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / July 24, 2011) – The website of Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay has been attacked and although no one claimed responsibility for defacing the government portal, the hacker proved how vulnerable the country’s Internet doorways.
The hacker have defaced the official website of the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines and left an animated picture of a cat with long hair and characters believed to be codes on this URL: http://www.ovp.gov.ph.
A Japanese song plays at the background of the portal. On the first page, the hacker also wrote this: “Mara, I will always be here for you.”
The website has been down the past two days and the motive of the attack is still unknown and the government has not issued any statement about it.
Binay is the country’s housing czar and also an adviser of President Benigno Aquino on matters concerning overseas Filipino workers. (Mindanao Examiner)
