MANILA, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 21, 2011) – Three people were killed after a ferry caught fire Sunday in central Philippines, the Coast Guard said.
It said two more passengers were missing after the ferry MV Island caught fire off Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province. The ferry was carrying more than 60 passengers.
The Coast Guard said the ferry was heading to Cebu from Bohol province when the fire broke out inside the vessel. Most of the passengers were rescued by other vessels nearby.
Authorities were investigating the incident. (Mindanao Examiner)
