ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 5, 2011) – The Philippine Red Cross in Zamboanga City in Mindanao recently celebrated the Blood Donors Month.

It also awarded several personalities and companies and organizations, including hospitals that supported the various humanitarian programs of the Philippine Red Cross and among them is the Mindanao Examiner.

City Administrator Antonio Orendain, who represented Mayor Celso Lobregat, handed the awards and recognitions to about two dozen individuals and representatives of companies.

The other awardees were Zamboanga City Water District, Zamboanga Doctors Hospital, Barangay Santa Maria, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Pilar College, Zamboanga Cathedral of Praise, Western Mindanao State University, Philippine Freemasons, dxCB Star FM, Bombo Radyo Philippines, Alpha Kappa Rho, Zamboanga City Council, and ABS-CBN.

And also the Naval Forces Western Mindanao, Immaculate Concepcion Archdiocesan School Alumni 1991, Philippine Ports Authority, Permex Producer and Exporter Corporation, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Ayala Parish, Shoppers’ Plaza, Shoppers’ Square, Los Contratistas, Councilors Myra Abubakar, Reynerio Candido, Rodolfo Lim, Lilia Nuño, Percival Ramos and Melchor Rey Sadain.

Allan Cajucom, the vice chairman of the Philippine Red Cross Board of Director, was also the emcee of the recognition program held at the Red Cross Social Hall.

Dr. Victor Liozo, the administrator of the local Red Cross chapter, and Dr. Milagros Fernandez, chairperson of the Board of Directors, thanked all those who supported their efforts in saving lives by donating blood and providing other supports to the organization in Zamboanga City.
