Security Bank Wins More Awards on its 60th Anniversary Year


MANILA, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 19, 2011) - On its 60th year, Security Bank Corporation (SBC) continues to reap international awards and recognition that affirm its leadership in the banking industry.

Security Bank is recognized for best business practices, technological product innovations, and other citations placing the bank in the same league as the biggest and best managed corporations in the Philippines and Asia.

It said four new prestigious awards were recently added to Security Bank’s string of accolades - an award for excellence in corporate governance at the 7th Corporate Governance Asia Annual Recognition Awards 2011 which honors The Best of Asia among publicly listed companies in the region.

Security Bank received the award for the second year in a row, and was cited for its ability to implement excellent standards of corporate governance and leading the way in promoting a strong commitment to uphold company values and stakeholders' rights, it said in a statement sent to the Mindanao Examiner.

This was followed by another award from leading regional financial publication Asiamoney, which named Security Bank as ‘Best Domestic Debt House’ in the Asiamoney Best Banks 2011 Awards. The publication recognized SBC’s strength as the leading trade and investments house in the country and highlighted the bank’s sustained profitability and industry-high return on equity as key drivers to its continued success.

SBC also won an award for product innovation for the DigiBanker BIPPS (Billing/Invoice Presentment and Payment System) which won Best Online Banking Initiative in the Philippines at the Asian Banking and Finance Retail Banking Awards 2011 held in Singapore . It was also given the Bronze Award for the same category across Asia , proof that this financial solution is also recognized among the best of its class in the region. This award affirms SBC’s commitment to deliver world-class technological solutions that are at par with the financial services available even in the more sophisticated Asian financial markets.

Most recently, Security Bank was named the Best Banking Group in the Philippines 2011 by the World Finance Banking Awards known as the pinnacle of achievement for major banks. World Finance Magazine is a London-based publication which enjoys a prime readership of key decision-makers around the world, representing multinational financial institutions, banks, investment banks, fund managers and government treasury departments.
