Fake document racket busted in Zamboanga City


ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 9, 2011) – Philippine authorities arrested four people accused of faking government documents in a raid at a hideout in Zamboanga City in Mindanao Island, officials said Friday.

Officials said the four were said to printing and selling various fake documents from birth certificates to passports, including school records and security clearances.

Security agents seized from the hideout several computers and printing machines and fake government papers.

Police identified those arrested as Gerald Amacanin, Julfa Amil, Almunib Ahijun and Chong Alih. One more suspect is still being hunted by the authorities.

Officials also confiscated from the group were recruitment forms from the former rebel group called Moro National Liberation Front. (Mindanao Examiner)
