Pa, son seized in Cagayan de Oro City

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 19, 2011) – A wealthy real estate trader and his son were seized Monday in Cagayan de Oro City in southern Philippines, reports said.

It said the gunmen, disguised as police officers, forced their way into the family’s People’s Agri Supply in downtown and disarmed the guards and then seized Manuel Boniao and his teenage son, Erwin.

The abduction occurred even as soldiers and policemen have a sizeable presence in Cagayan de Oro, home to the regional police headquarters and an army base. The 4th Infantry Division said it had no report about the twin abduction.

The gunmen escaped with their hostages in a government vehicle. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the abduction. (Mindanao Examiner)
