MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 1, 2011) – The father of Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco was murdered during a drinking spree in Laguna province outside Manila, police said Tuesday.
Police said Ricky Pempengco, 39, was stabbed by an ice pick by a man who immediately escaped after the killing. Pempengco’s body was found sprawled in a canal.
His neighbors said Pempengco was always in trouble every time he was drunk and in several instances hurled stones at their neighborhood and cursed those who tried to stop him.
Police said revenge or grudge was likely the motive to the killing. (Mindanao Examiner)
