Man Kills Wife, Stabs Self In Southern RP

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / July 14, 2008) – A woman was stabbed and killed by her own husband during a heated argument inside their house, police in the southern Philippines said.

Police said the man, Fortunato Dumapas, also stabbed himself and is in serious condition at a hospital in Davao City. It said the attack occurred late Sunday inside the couple’s house in the village of Bunawan.

It was not immediately known what triggered the argument, but neighbors heard the couple shouting at each other. (Romy Bwaga)

Police Arrest Man Who Hack Wife In South RP

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / June 11, 2008) – Police have arrested a man who was accused of attacking and wounding his wife during a heated argument in the southern Philippines.

Police said the 35-year old woman, Rosana Sibayan, is in critical condition at a hospital in La Paz town in Agusan del Sur province in Mindanao Island.

Her husband, Rolando Sibayan, hacked her in different parts of the body on Tuesday inside their house where neighbors heard the couple quarreling.

The man did not give any statement, but police said it is readying charges against him. (Romy Bwaga)
