ZAMBOANGA CITY (Zamboanga Journal / 02 Mar) The Rotary Club Metro Zamboanga initiated a love drive Thursday to assist landslide victims in Bayog town in Zamboanga del Sur province.
The project is in coordination with the local chapter of the Guardians Brotherhood of the Philippines Inc., the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Zamboanga branch and other government agencies.
Zamboanga City Vice Mayor Maria Isabel Climaco, also the current Rotary Club Metro Zamboanga president said assistance should also be given to calamity victims in areas nearest here.
"The drive is part of the Rotary's thrust to help people affected by natural or manmade calamities as well as those residing in poverty-stricken areas," she said.
The project is in coordination with the local chapter of the Guardians Brotherhood of the Philippines Inc., the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Zamboanga branch and other government agencies.

She emphasized that while assistance has been given to the landslide victims in Leyte, the victims of similar calamity in the neighboring areas are also in dire need of support.
Climaco also appealed for more relief goods, medicines, clothing and other items for the slide victims.
The donations would be ferried to the area sometime this month. A truck will be commissioned by the Rotary Club Metro through the courtesy of incoming club president Engr. Antonio Turija.

Three houses were buried by mud killing five people in a landslide that hit the village of Depore on February 18.
