MANILA (Zamboanga Journal / 06 Apr) Opposition senators, led by Aquilino Pimentel, who were calling for President Gloria Arroyo to step down, launched the "Gloria Resign Movement" on Wednesday in Manila.
The launching of the movement, attended by Senate President Franklin Drilon, coincided with Arroyo's 59th birthday.
Pimentel also distributed car stickers to supporters that reads "GLORIA RESIGN."
The group vowed to step up protest untiol Arroyo steps down.
The opposition accused the President of cheating in the May 2004 elections, but she strongly denied the allegations and said she won "fair and square" against her closest rival, movie actor Fernando Poe Jr.
