BIMP-EAGA Bids For Enhanced ASEAN Ties

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Zamboanga Journal / 09 Jun) Some 20 delegates from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia,and the Philippines (BIMP) are to visit the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat in Jakarta next to promote regional economic cooperation, officials said Friday.

Officials said the visit Wednesday is sponsored and organized by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) under Technical Assistance Project for the promotion of regional economic cooperation in the East Asean Growth Area, aimed at strengthening the cooperation and coordination mechanisms between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the BIMP-EAGA.

Members of the delegation are BIMP-EAGA senior officials and its national secretariats; working group clusters' chairmen, business council chairman, secretariat and representatives of the group's facilitation centre.

It will also include representatives from the Asian Development Bank and the German Technical Cooperation.
