Four People Wounded In Cotabato Grenade Attack

COTABATO CITY (Mark Navales / 10 Aug) Four people were injured in a grenade attack Thursday at the gate of the local Muslim government compound in Cotabato City in the southern Philippine province of Maguindanao, officials said.

Officials said the attack occurred shortly before 2 p.m. and wounded at least three government militias and a policeman manning a security outpost.

The motive of the attack was unknown, but police is still investigating the blast, said Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao, commander of the regional police force.

The attack coincided with two simultaneous bombings in Kidapawan City in North Cotabato province, where one soldier was wounded.

Police said unidentified men tossed the grenade on the security post and fled.
