CEBU (Zamboanga Journal / 16 Aug) New People's Army (NPA) rebels attacked a group of rival faction on Wednesday killing one person in Can-avid town in eastern Samar province in the central Philippines.
The NPA said it also captured a member of the Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan or RHB in the clash. "The Efren Martires Command-Eastern Visayas announced today that based on initial reports, the New People's Army had successfully ambushed the bandit group. An RHB element was killed and another one was captured in the ambush," Karlos Manuel, an EMC spokesperson, said in a statement.
There were no NPA casualties, he said, adding, his group seized three high-powered rifles and five guns from RHB fighters.
Manuel said the RHB was not a political movement, but engaged in extortion, robbery, and harassment of civilians in Samar. He also accused the military of being behind the RHB and using it against the NPA in the government's all-out war.
"(President Gloria) Arroyo's all-out war is nothing but an unscrupulous war where the government forces act like criminals and consort with criminals. The existence of the RHB in the region has been known since 2002, yet the military has never moved against it despite the complaints of its victims," he said.

CPP-NDF-NPA blames the government for human rights political killings, but they are guilty themselves. This is a proof. They even burned down the truck of farmers who are former NPA. Are these the job of good responsible citizen? It is unfair for the International Human Rights Team just looks on one side. International Human Rights Team should look on both sides. They will be surprise to see the real truth.
I still think that political killings are just propaganda. And, it is actually a purge by the NPA. This is my thinking. The communist insurgents, who are now in mainstream society, fears for their life. And, they know that NPA are doing a purge. So, they blame the government. Eventually, the government will investigate to do the dirty for them. Thereby, former communist insurgents are able to save lives without implicating NPA. Once implicating the NPA, the NPA will be out to assasinate them.
Plus, the media do not cover the NPA too much. Or, they will hunted down by NPA. So, the people can only see the bad things of the government. The media can only write about the bad things on government.
