DAVAO CITY (Yolynne Medina / 03 Nov) – The Asia Source II announced Saturday an upcoming conference on media and new I.T. methods, among others, to be held on January in Indonesia.
The Asia Source II seeks to build the skills and networks of those in the region who are working in the non-governmental organization (NGO) and small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sectors. The event will bring together people from the more technical to the more content-oriented.
These range from software developers and system administrators, to trainers, consultants and FOSS advocates, as well as technology/NGO project managers, and tech-savvy activists/NGO workers.
Asia Source II is an 8-day event from January 22 to 30 in Sukabumi, about 3 hours drive from Jakarta, Indonesia. If you would like to participate, you will need to attend the entire event, which means arriving in Jakarta on or before January 21 and leaving on or after January 31.
This is an event for experienced professionals actively working with the NGO or SME sector in South Asia and South-East Asia, with a history of working with service and advocacy NGOs, educational organizations, NGO resource centers, community centers, health information organizations, SMEs and SME support agencies in South Asia and South-East Asia.
Like previous source camps, there will be an equal proportion of technical and non-technical people as we are hope to introduce "those who know technology" to "those who need technology".
Towards this end, sessions will vary from the highly technical to completely non-technical. To be eligible to attend, you will need to answer the questions below, providing detailed information about projects you have worked on.
The application deadline is November 17.The conference aims to broaden the knowledge of those in the NGO and SME who have technical experience.
Other areas that would tackle will also include the following: Open Publishing and Broadcasting: Communication Strategies and Writing Effectively. Graphic Design, Web Tools [Content Management Systems, Blogs, Wikis] and Audio/Video Production and Streaming. Script Writing and Story Boarding.
File Formats and Conversion Utilities. Video Shooting and Editing Methods.The conference is open to all those interested, especially web masters and developers, graphic designers, film makers, radio professionals, media practitioners and archivists.
