The party list, if it wins, has pledged to use the Countryside Development Fund to provide various projects and sustainable livelihood to the people of Mindanao. KALAHI is fast becoming a favorite party list group in the southern Philippines.

DAVAO CITY – The lawyer of the party list Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran Laban sa Kahirapan (KALAHI), has committed to use the countrywide development fund popularly known as “pork barrel” of the group if they are elected in Congress to finance various projects that will benefit the people of Mindanao.

Attorney Karlo Nograles, the second nominee of KALAHI, said if they win in the May 14 national elections, the party list group composed mostly of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and their families vowed to initiate projects that will improve the quality of lives of Mindanaoans.

Nograles, the son of House majority floor leader Rep. Prospero Nograles, called on the people of Mindanao to support KALAHI and its programs which are all intended to provide better lives to everybody in the southern region.

The young Nograles said it is now the right time for the residents of Mindanao to show its support to a party list that will surely carry their voices in Congress since he himself is a resident of Mindanao.

"This is now the time for us to choose the right party list that is committed in helping Mindanaoans and that is KALAHI. Many party list groups elected in the past have not really delivered well and failed many Mindanaoans and had not given us the projects that we need despite the pork barrel funds allocated on them," Nograles said.

He said although KALAHI's main advocacy is also the protection and welfare of OFWs, the group also sets its goals on providing worthwhile projects for residents of Mindanao since the party list believes that through these programs there can be unity, peace and prosperity for every Mindanaoans.

Nograles pledged to implement various development projects in Mindanao.

“If the people of Mindanao will give their trust and support to the KALAHI party list group, we will promise to implement these development programs that will be beneficial to all of us Mindanaons and we ask for your support in the forthcoming elections,” he said.

He said among the projects the KALAHI party list group would undertake if it wins is to provide free education and scholarship to poor, but deserving students in Mindanao under the Oplan Kaalam.

“Aside from the scholarships, we would also be providing free master degrees and technical and vocational programs to deserving Mindanaoan students,” he said.

His father, Rep. Nograles also has similar programs and already benefited some 2,000 scholars.
KALAHI party list, Nograles said would also construct school buildings both for elementary and high schools in poor areas in Mindanao that will benefit those who have no access to basic education.

Nograles also pledged to improve health care system for the poor in Mindanao by providing access to government health facilities and provide free PhilHealth cards.

"We would also be providing free medicines to the sick, medical and dental missions, vitamins and children and infant feeding programs,” he said.

KALAHI also vowed to provide farm-to-market roads and bridges that will benefit marginal farmers and provide them faster access to markets. It will also give traders similar access to farmers.

Nograles said the KALAHI party list also has a concrete poverty alleviation program and sustainable livelihood projects for the urban poor.

"To the residents of Mindanao we call on you to vote for the KALAHI party list and help in fulfilling these programs for all sectors in Mindanao. Your voice is KALAHI’s voice in Congress; the voice of truly Mindanaon,” he said. (Romy Bwaga)

This is better. It is better to spend on humanatarian instead of millions on campaign, and political ads. Even if you lose, you feel like a winner. You helped many people.
