DAVAO CITY, Philippines - Two more government school buildings are to be inaugurated here Monday as part of a project of Davao City Representative Vincent Garcia.
Garcia and Education Secretary Jesli Lapus are expected to lead the inauguration of the school buildings, according to the official Philippine News Agency.
The three-storey, 12-classroom building which cost more than P14 million will be handed over to the F. Bangoy National High School in the village of Sasa; and the 4-classroom, two-storey building at the Sixto Babao Elementary School in Ilang village, all located at the city’s Second district, where Garcia belongs.
Education regional director Susana Estigoy said the F. Bangoy National High School has the biggest number of enrollments every year.
“In fact, for this year, enrollments totaled to 4,759 students and yet they only have 32 existing rooms used as classrooms, while the other two rooms are used as laboratory and library. With the additional 12-classrooms that we will inaugurate they will now have a total of 46 classrooms," she said.
Garcia, on the other hand, said Lapus has been so generous and contributed a lot for the establishment of additional school buildings in the Second district.
“For this calendar year, we have additional of 74 new classrooms. For each congressional district, it would be lucky if such a congressional district could get 10 classrooms. But with the assistance of Lapus, we were able to build additional 74 new classrooms to augment the lack of facilities in my district,” Garcia said.
