ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 5, 2008) – The Philippines Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee and officials vowed to continue providing excellent services for the coming years.
“We’re celebrating our Diamond Jubilee on December 8, and we intend to make this a memorable affair for us and our long time partners,” said Ponciano Ligutom, the DOLE regional director for Western Mindanao.
The festive commemoration, which began its countdown with the unveiling of the anniversary logo, will be spearheaded by the DOLE family circle of agencies which are the National Labor Relations Commission, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Technical Skills Development Authority.
The celebration will kick off Monday with a motorcade from around downtown Zamboanga City. It would be followed by an an Ecumenical service at the Plaza Pershing.
The DOLE said it will hold jobs and livelihood fair on the same day and there would also be ceremonial awarding of livelihood fund to the Latuan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association, Youth in Action and Unemployed Group of Tabuk Association, and the Mampang Deportees Association.
Among the highlights of activities are the launching of DOLE’s I-Text Mo reach-out advocacy program and the renewal of commitment of members agencies of the One Stop Processing Center.
A press conference, dubbed as “Ulat Sa Bayan,” shall follow at the Lantaka Hotel.
