Members of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and the National Uniion of Journalists in the Philippines also led a candle-lighting ceremony in a tribute to at least journalists who were among those brutally killed on November 23.

The mayor of Datu Unsay town, Andal Ampatuan Jnr, scion of a powerful political clan in Maguindanao, was arrested three days after the massacre and charged with multiple counts of murder.
Authorities also implicated in the killings other members of the clan, including the mayor’s father, Andal Snr, the governor of Maguindanao; and brothers Zaldy Ampatuan, the governor of the Muslim autonomous region; Anwar Ampatuan, the mayor of Shariff Aguak, and other relatives. (Geo Solmerano)
