Maguindanao has new leaders

Governor-elect Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu wins in Maguindanao, one of five provinces under the Muslim autonomous region. His wife and sister were among 57 people, including at least 32 journalists, brutally killed in November last year after political rivals attacked their convoy. Filipino election officials headed by lawyers Renault Macarambon, left, and Akilali Balt, right, proclaimed Mangudadatu and his running mate Ismael Mastura as vice governor of Maguindanao.
