MANILA, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 14, 2010) – The Philippines Supreme Court has acquitted Tuesday a son of a former lawmaker and 5 others convicted of murdering three members of an affluent Vizconde family in 1991 in Manila.
The High Court also ordered the release of Hubert Webb, son of ex-senator Freddie Webb; and Michael Gatchalian, Antonio Lejano II, Hospicio Fernandez, Miguel Rodriguez and Peter Estrada. The six had served 15 years in prison.
A policeman who was also convicted as an accessory to the murders had been earlier released from prison. The High Court said the prosecution failed to prove the guilt of all the men. (Mindanao Examiner)
