DIPOLOG CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / May 7, 2009) – Zamboanga del Norte provincial governor Rolando Yebes has appealed to town mayors in coastal areas to help fight illegal fishing.
The Philippine Information Agency said Yebes and Zamboanga del Norte Representatives Cesar Jalosjos and Cecilia Carreon, including Mayor Dominador Jalosjos of Dapitan City are planning to purchase patrol boats to guard against illegal fishing.
The protection of municipal waters is assigned to the local government. (Mindanao Examiner)
